After having amassed an unwieldy number of knitting books, my best friend gave me a test that I now use religiously before buying another: there must be at least three patterns in the book that make me want to cast-on immediately. This book - and the other two volumes in the series - make me want to cast on every single pattern in all three volumes! I'm also a fan of the simplicity of the lines and the many cable choices in all of these patterns. This was a great investment and I'm happy to add it to my knitting library. It is a book full of beautiful pictures of the Sea Ranch Lodge and the beautiful finished product of each included pattern. The instuctions for the lovely patterns and ideas are clear and easy to follow. There is something for everyone in the family. I am truely enjoying this book.Happy to have this book of fine patterns.I chose this book after being in the Shetland Islands and having seen so many lovely ideas in their style of knitting. There is a great variety of patterns in this book - a lovely rose pattern shawl, jumpers for men and woman, cardigans and some great felted bags at the back.this is a source of inspiration and patterns. Somewhat advanced knitting, but worth the effort. Great promotion of the product and craft of Shetland knitting.GreatI picked this book up used & it's become one of my favorite knitting pattern books. Of the 22 patterns, I LOVE all but 4 and I've had to prioritize which patterns I like the most & want to make first. Patterns range from simple to not-so-simple sweaters (all beautiful) to my favorite 'Bressay Jacket' to a Rose Trellis Shawl (front cover) that I'm going to start & work on SLOWLY & CAREFULLY; there is also a section at the end with several different handbags, from small to large. It's only 110 pages, but it's packed full of the most original patterns I've seen in a long time...The patterns in this book offer an array of options for knitters everywhere and of every age and ability. There are lace shawls and fairisle of staggering detail, simple cardigans given that special twist, and complex sweaters to fix the attention of the seasoned. The instructions are clear and concise, giving good lead at critical points. The photos, too, show clearly what you aim to achieve. Overall, a lovely book to add to your collection.Love this book, a must for any lover of Shetland knittingExcellent, thank you.
