Six fashionable projects and simple instructions make this book irresistible for anyone interested in learning how to knit. Enjoy learning to knit with these fun, simple tips! Author and knitter Astor Tsang shares her expert advice for beginners, guiding you through myriad key knitting concepts in her own unique, easy-going style. She'll introduce you to the process of selecting the most suitable needles and yarn for a particular pattern before explaining the basic techniques that you'll need to progress: *Slipknot *Casting On *Knit Stitch *Purl Stitch *Tension *Combination Knits and Purls *Reading Your Work *Turning *Casting Off. If any of these sound daunting, don't worry! Astor uses clear, engaging descriptions combined with handy illustrations to make sure that you won't feel out of the loop! This means that even if you've never picked up knitting needles before, the more advanced techniques will soon be within your grasp. Then, your Hip Knitting adventure can really begin! The book includes six complete and fully illustrated patterns, which you can either make for yourself or as wonderfully warming, wintery gifts: a scarf, a slouch hat, a pillow monster, and more! All of these feature a list of required materials and precise Pantone color suggestions to remove any confusion and guesswork. Though, of course, the hope is to inspire you to experiment once you've become fully competent and confident in your technique. Astor's original designer sketches that accompany each pattern may even encourage you to doodle your own! Astor's Top Down Shrug Cardigan will be an instant hit with your fashion-conscious friends. And the option to pair it with the equally classy but playful Tube Top to make a sweater is the kind of creativity for which she's known. The unisex Slouch Hat will look great in all weather and protect you or a loved one's head from the cold. The high-quality, adaptable scarf design will help with that, too! With starter projects as appealing as these, why not give knitting a first try today? It will open your imagination to a whole woolen world of creative possibilities and keep you stylish and warm when you need it!
I don’t have this particular book, but I have another by this same author... and it has the same patterns. The explanations and descriptions are terrible. I have to stare hard at the drawn diagrams to try and sort out what I couldn’t figure out in words. When no drawings were available I had to take to YouTube for help. Seriously, here is an excerpt on reading your work:[If you look at the stitch on your left needle, the stitch just about ready to be completed, you will see the loop on the needle standing up and down. Now look at the base of the up and down loop. Is the base a half “v” or a bump?]That is a stand-alone paragraph. So I paid $12 (clearance price) for a beginners kit ... yarn, needles, and useless book.
